ScreenMute is a privacy-first iPhone screen-time app that adds a progressive pause before more access to one selected app—without permanent lockout, accounts, ads, or feed inspection.
It uses Apple’s privacy-preserving Screen Time technology frameworks. The beta is not a medical treatment and its outcomes have not yet been independently studied.
I’m the solo founder behind ScreenMute. I do not want to build another dashboard that asks for more attention. I want to build a small, dependable interruption that helps technology step aside when its job is done.

After a 3-minute daily allowance for one selected app, ScreenMute introduces a 5, 15, or 30-second pause. Completing the pause does not open the app automatically; you decide whether another 10 minutes still matters.
Yes. The complete one-app Progressive Pause remains free, with no automatic trial or surprise paywall. The current beta has no purchase or subscription flow.
Not permanently. After the initial allowance, ScreenMute can pause access. Complete the pause and press again for 10 minutes of access. You can also turn protection off or request confirmed emergency access.
ScreenMute uses Apple’s Screen Time controls. It cannot inspect messages, videos, searches, feeds, or your purpose.
Version 1 is deliberately narrow. One app lets the beta test whether the pause is understandable, reliable, and worth keeping before the product expands.
It is a future idea, not a product for sale. We are exploring Pro features with one included ScreenMute NFC Card for a physical focus ritual. There is no price, preorder, or delivery date yet.
