Data used on your device
ScreenMute stores your selected app token, optional self-reported daily Screen Time reason, protection settings, Modes, focus deadlines, completed focus totals, pause level, and temporary-access deadline locally on your device. Apple’s Family Controls framework represents the selected app using a privacy-preserving token. ScreenMute uses that token only to apply the control you request.
What ScreenMute cannot see
ScreenMute does not inspect or collect what you do inside the selected app. It cannot distinguish messaging, posting, working, watching, searching, or scrolling. A reason appears only when you choose it yourself.
App collection and tracking
Version 1 does not include advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, analytics SDKs, or an account service. ScreenMute does not sell personal information. Locally processed Screen Time and protection information is not transmitted to our servers.
Screen Time reports
Apple provides selected-app duration, pickups, and notification counts to ScreenMute’s Device Activity Report extension. The extension displays the seven-day total, daily duration, and context signals inside Apple’s privacy-preserving report sandbox. If you optionally choose one main reason for a day, that label can be combined with the day’s duration inside the extension as an approximate reflection. ScreenMute never guesses the reason and does not read notification contents or copy raw report activity into the main app, analytics, or a server.
Optional HealthKit sleep data
Sleep is optional and read-only. ScreenMute requests access to sleep-analysis samples only after you choose Connect sleep, then derives daily duration and timing summaries on your iPhone for Balance. It does not write HealthKit data, upload sleep data, or make medical or diagnostic claims. Denied, revoked, limited, or empty access is shown as not enough data and never receives zero points.
Beta application email
The website does not submit your beta answers to a hidden database. If you use the application form, your browser prepares an email draft for you to review and send. The resulting email contains only the answers you choose to include and is used to evaluate and reply to your beta request.
Your choices
You can deny or revoke Screen Time and Health permissions in iOS Settings. You can stop protection and delete ScreenMute’s local data, including daily Screen Time reasons, Modes, focus history, and derived sleep summaries, from the app’s Settings screen. Deleting the app also removes its local app-container data, subject to normal iOS behavior.
Children
Version 1 requests individual device-owner authorization and is not presented as a parental monitoring service for children.
Changes and contact
If a future version introduces accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or other data processing, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that version is released.
